Our Story
Mason Lo and Gamunu Withana are two students at Bronxville High School. While Gamunu started going to the gym since 2021, he brought Mason along in early 2024. Since then, they've been going together consistently every week.
Both Mason and Gamunu are science-based lifters, and a problem occurred doing single-arm tricep extensions. While they could do about 14 reps on 60 pounds, they could only manage 4-5 reps on 50 pounds. "If only there was a way we could do 55 pounds" they thought.
This is where CINQ started. They wanted to find an 'in-between' weight on weight stacks which conventionally go up in increments of 10 or 15 pounds. That way, they could get enough effective reps without losing too much energy from doing too many.
CINQ isn't for everyone, but for serious lifters who care about optimizing their gains, it becomes a necessity.
Progression
It started with a 3D-print at Bronxville High School's innovation center. As you can see on the left, it was a very rough prototype, weighing in at about half a pound.
It took us about two months to get to the design in the middle - our first viable prototype. We used this for a bit, but we realized that the rod wasn't long enough.
Within 3 months, we ended up with our final product on the right. The rod is longer; we have a sleek, black design; and we have instructions on the CINQ.
